  • Dungeness is sparsely populated and Europe’s largest vegetated shingle split with steep pebbly banks.

Anglers and bird watchers are more common than families with the RSPB maintains a reserve with hides.

At the railway station you have a free parking, cafe and toilets just 5 minutes away. No facilities exist at Dungeness Point itself.

Dungeness Beach has dog restrictions. Dogs permitted on Dungeness Point but NOT on the RSPB reserve.

Be very careful the waters are treacherous.

      Overall Rating:

One of the worlds great beaches – and unknown.
I lived and visited here at various times from 1966 until 2013. The beach at Greatstone is really wonderful. Unfortunately it is almost always freezing cold and windy.
