  • Porthmeor beach is perfect for families, as the beach sits in the town of St Ives and is backed by the Tate St Ives.

The beach has good sand at the top and then a slope at high water mark takes you to a large expanse of flat compact sand.

    Surf school on the beach.

In the summer it can be very hard to park in St. Ives.

This beach has a cafe and restaurant, toilets, seasonal lifeguards and access to St. Ives town.

Porthmeor Beach has dog restrictions. Dogs not allowed May to September.

A great beach in the heart of St Ives.
The kids enjoyed bodyboarding and playing on the large beach area, although as the tide came in the remaining sandy areas became a bit busy. Also good as you can leave your towels on the beach and just grab a Cornish pasty from the local bakery.
