Kent Beaches and Coast

Kent is in the South East of England and is often referred to as the 'Garden of England'.

This county enjoys an enviable coastline and perfect blue flag beaches all interspersed with historic sites and stunning countryside. Just 35 minutes by train from London so you could enjoy a city break at the same time!

Iconic landmarks can be found here like the White Cliffs of Dover, Canterbury Cathedral and Leeds Castle, the Romney marshes and the Straits of Dover. The coast adds drama to every view and secluded coves and mysterious caves make an ordinary day at the beach a very special one. Try your hand at surfing on the famous Joss Bay beach or fossil hunt at Kingsdown Beach.

The countryside around the coast alters from shore to woodland, hills to valleys and places like Blean Woods are well worth a visit with wildlife, birds and butterflies to enjoy. Explore the tiny villages like Chillenden, Bardristone and Alkham and the Stour Valley taking in the Cinque Port of Sandwich and Pegwell Bay. Thanet is an historic delight as well as a great spot to enjoy the sandy beaches of Margate.

Don't forget the Isle of Sheppey! Thirty six square miles of beaches with great views over the Thames and Essex and a wealth of history as you find out more about Nelson and Dutch invaders or dig for dinosaur fossils.
