Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, UK
The Belmont Picturehouse is a different kind of cinema situated on Belmont Street, Aberdeen, Scotland.
Here they show films that are not ususally shown in a multiplex or chain cinema. The films shown here are unusual and from independent film makers and often include foreign language films and documentaries. However, the fun part is, they show some of the 'big' movies from time to time and you get to enjoy it in this quirky cinema house!
The cinema is also available for the showing of films for local film groups, schools, business events etc and is run a bit like a charity. Originally built as a trading hall it only became the Coliseum Cinema in 1910. It was closed in the early fifties but reopened in 2000 with three screens!
