The Obelisk

Armagh, , UK

The Obelisk is a monument standing 113 ft high just behind the Palace in Knox’s Hill.

Archbishop Robinson built it in memory of his association with the Duke of Northumberland who was responsible for his transfer to Armagh. It was also a way to create jobs for the unemployed of the time in the city.

Now, this stunning monument stands proud commanding a strong position in the city and over the surrounding countryside.
