Armagh County Museum
Armagh, , UK
Armagh County Museum is the oldest museum in Ireland and you’ll find it near St Patrick’s Cathedral in the Mall. The building is wonderful and the rich collection of artifacts, art, clothing, toys, ceramics, natural history and memorabilia make this a great day out.
Here, you’ll discover more about the Orange County in a day than you would in weeks of online reading. It’s a friendly museum with a good reference library and archive material. Past exhibitions have included one on the Atlantic Slave Trade, Birds, Patchwork, Astronomy and those about people with an influence on the history of this area.
The museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm and weekends on Saturdays from 10am. Admission is free. There is a great shop for momentoes and great coffee shops, pubs and cafes for lunches.
