Swansea, Swansea Bay and The Gower, UK
Swansea Castle is a ruined 13th century castle situated in central Swansea in South Wales.
An ancient monument now surrounded by modern buildings and roads, it may be hard to picture how the castle originally looked. This was first a motte and bailey settlement from the early 12th century that was added to over the following century. The tower from the castle that still remains today was probably built in the late 13th century.
Visitors can view the exterior of the castle only. For more information see cadw.wales.gov.uk
