Hexham Market Place
Hexham, Northumberland, UK
Hexham Market Place is central square in the centre of Hexham, Northumberland.
With the town having origins going back to the 11th century, including Hexham Abbey which is adjacent to the market place, much of the buildings in the centre of Hexham underwent major restoration in the 19th century. From the medieval times through to the Victorian era, the market place was the focal point for the town’s trade as well as public executions.
Today, a popular Farmers’ Marker is held on the market place every Saturday.
