The Forest of Dean covers 35 square miles between the rivers Severn and Wye. The forest has thick coniferous and deciduous woods and rolling hills. In Roman times this was a major hunting area and in Tudor times the Oak was used for shipbuilding.
Throughout the Forest you are welcome to explore - to walk and cycle the many miles of signed forest roads.
The forest has lots of picnic spots with tables and sometimes fixes BBQ points.
