Flatford Mill is a grade 1 listed watermill on the River Stour near East Bergholt on the Suffolk / Essex border.
Built in 1733, the mill and it surroundings were made famous as the location for some of John Constable’s paintings, including being the title of one of the most iconic ones, ‘Flatford Mill (Scene on a Navigable River)’.
The mill along with other nearby buildings are leased to the Field Studies Council, a group which uses them for ecology and natural history courses www.field-studies-council.org
