Merseyside Beaches & Coast

Merseyside coast and beaches

Merseyside is a county in the North West of England on the banks of the Mersey Estuary. The city of Liverpool is in this area as is the Wirral.

The coastline here is full of attractions like the Albert Dock in Liverpool itself and the beach statues at the beach in Crosby. The biggest attractions here are the coastal nature reserves that spread a hundred miles down this coast.

The Sefton coast offers wetlands, the largest sand dunes in England, woodland and beach habitat and is home to red squirrels, wild fowl, sand lizards, Natterjack Toads and great crested Newts. Formby beach stretches for miles with Pine woods at the back and great places to picnic. If you're tired of nature then Liverpool resonates with history from being a gateway to the world, a destination for theatre goers, museum hunters and party animals as well as providing a broad selection of attractions that thrill the whole family.

There are vast art galleries, fascinating museums like the one at Albert Dock that houses 'the Beatles story' taking you through the times, music and lives of the lads from Liverpool.

The Wirral Peninsula is ideal if you want peace and quiet. It juts out between the Mersey and Dee rivers giving great views of Liverpool and the Welsh Hills. With 25 miles of coastline, the Wirral offers wonderful walks with varied bird and animal life and some gorgeous cosy places to stay!

Attractions in the area include:

  • Albert Dock The Beatles Story
  • Liverpool Cathedral
  • International Slavery Museum
  • The Tate
  • Knowsley Safari Park
  • Langtree Park
  • St Helen's World of Glass
  • Aintree Racecourse
