Dundee Beaches & Coast

Dundee coast and beaches

Dundee is in the eastern central lowlands of Scotland and lies on the banks of the Firth of Tay feeding into the North Sea. If you're after an ideal short break, this is the right spot!

This city is full to bursting with award winning tourist attractions like the RRS Discovery and Glamis Castle as well as fantastic shopping facilities, contemporary cinema and dramatic, rugged scenery of the Highland Glens and breathtaking, quiet coastal retreats with unspoilt beaches. As you'd expect, golf is high on the agenda with world class championship golf courses. Angling, hiking, cycling and water sports are also popular here and adventure centres are plentiful.

Here you'll find a history that dates back thousands of years as you marvel at the Pictish stones and crosses, monuments and war sites, the tombs of dead kings and the ancient maritime history of the people who docked here in the two world famous wooden ships preserved for today's generation. The history of this country's aviation is also preserved here at Kirriemuir and Montrose Museums.

This is also the area to enjoy a wee dram or two of the smooth 'Famous Grouse'.

Attractions found in the area include:

  • Broughty Castle
  • Angus Folk Museum
