Stromness Seaside

Stromness is the second most populated town in the Orkney Islands and is in the south west of Mainland Orkney.

Stromness is build around a natural harbour in the sheltered bay of Hamnavoe. The old town retains it's history and is clustered along winding streets, flanked with houses and shops built from local stone with slate roofs, with narrow lanes and alleys. The houses then go up the hill away from the harbour.

Explore the streets and passageways and you will find small independent shops selling local crafts, textiles and jewellery.

Due to the towns maritime past it draws in people wanting to explore the outdoors, from diving, fishing and sailing, but also offers some good walking and cycling.
