Hastings Seaside

Hastings sits on the south coast overlooking the English Channel. It was an important fishing port and still has the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Europe.

Hastings claim fame is the Battle of Hastings (1066), and later when it became one of the medieval Cinque Ports, and up until the 16th century, with other coastal towns provided the ships and men who guarded king and country. The town became a popular seaside resort with the arrival of the railway.

The seafront has a pier and the beaches in Hastings are pebble with at low tide areas of sand. If you head to the east of Hastings you get some good sandy beaches like Camber Sands.
