Helmsdale is a fishing port at the estuary of the River Helmsdale. You have a small beach area by the harbour wall but also larger areas as you head away from the esruary on both sides.

Helmsdale is popular foreshore fossil hunting area as the coastline is a mix of sand, pebbles and rocks backed by wild grass areas.
