Talacre Beach

Talacre, Flintshire, Wales, UK

Talacre beach is a long, sandy beach at the northernmost point of mainland Wales known as Point of Ayr. Situated to the north of Talacre in Flintshire, at the mouth of the Dee estuary.

This beach offers wide open space to fly kites, sunbathe, walk, swim and surf. It is popular because of the lighthouse - made famous in the Dulux TV advert - where it's claimed that the ghost of an old lighthouse keeper walks. The village has facilities and there is a good caravan park near by.

It is the site of a RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) nature reserve, and is part of Gronant and Talacre Dunes Site of Special Scientific Interest.
