Canvey Island is a reclaimed island in the Thames estuary, protected by 15 miles of concrete wall sea defenses.

Canvey has three sailing clubs; The Island Yacht Club, the Chapman Sands Sailing Club and the Benfleet Yacht Club.

A region between Thorney bay and Labworth beach is designated as an approved windsurfing area.

Facilities

Slipway situated on the island at Benfleet Creek in the north.
