Butter Hole Beach, Padstow

Padstow, Cornwall, England, UK

Butter Hole beach has yellow sands and some excellent rock pillars.

The beach is thought to take its name from, butter = yellow sand and hole = look down on it.

The beach is backed by cliffs with a risky steep path down or to come in from the sea by boat. This area of coastline is great for walking with the South West Coast path running along the top. If you want an easy route down to sea level you will need to go over to the East side of Gunver Head at Hawkers Cove.

Butter Hole has some climbing routes up the cliffs.
