A great cottage for a short break, the entire cottage was very clean and included everything we could have wished for.
Mr Buckley, West Midlands
,This was our second visit to the property which is in an excellent location on the outskirts of Ambleside with wonderful views from the kitchen, lounge and patio. It feels secluded yet is within walking distance of all the amenities in Ambleside and Lake Windermere. The property is maintained to a high spec and I like the fact that there are simple instructions unobtrusively posted nearby each appliance for ease of use which beats ploughing through instruction manuals! The beds are comfortable and the bedding is of a high standard with a luxurious feel so extra long lies-in were a pleasure. The gardens are lovely with lots of variety and colour even in the depths of winter and the bright red berries on the bushes attracted lots of birds which, as a bird lover, I thoroughly enjoyed. The weather was wet and windy but we were snug and warm indoors and, with the view through the French windows, there were plenty of dramas in the natural world to hold our interest! I also like the book which was left by the owners in which they encourage guests to request anything which may make the property even more like home from home. I noted that the requests had been acknowledged and all the sensible ones had been implemented.
,We have been coming to Ambleside 4 or 5 times a year for over 20 years and have stayed in many properties. This was definitely one we would return to again. Very well equipped, comfortable, clean and in a good location. Couldn't fault it.
Mrs Bellis, Northumberland
,Loved the cottage and especially the location.
Mrs Lacey Adamson,
,"Walkers Retreat is a lovely cottage to stay at. We hiked all day and it was enjoyable to come back and relax in our comfortable holiday cottage."
Miss Critchell-imms, West Sussex
,Superb location and a lovely apartment with modern furnishings. Had a wonderful patio to sit and watch the view, although the view was also as good from the sofa looking out of the patio doors. There was plenty of crockery and cutlery. A clean and well maintained property.
Mrs Boxall, Hampshire
,This was one of the most comfortable, clean and well thought out holiday homes we have been in. It was central yet quiet and private, offering superb views. A great selection of books for information on the area was useful and appreciated. It was a lovely 'home' to come back to every evening.
