Unthank Hall is a beautifully restored property, the owners were excellent. The garden was excellent for our two energetic German Pointers and all the facilities you need are at hand. It was like a home from home. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend to our friends.
Mrs Gore, Lancashire
,Fantastic house and surroundings, the owners made us very welcome, they were such a nice genuine couple. All the family (6 plus a baby) and our Staffy had a great time, can't wait to go back.
Mr Mustarde, Durham
,An excellent property with wonderful hosts! They went beyond and above anything we would have expected to make our stay truly great! Big thanks to them!
,The house is unique in its history, beautifully restored and appointed with every modern convenience. It is set in a stunning location with wonderful views and is within easy walking distance of Stanhope village with pubs and shops. The enclosed paddock was great for our dog and was lovely to sit in when the sun shone. A fabulous property.

Mrs Rushton, Lancashire
,There was a wonderful history to the house and it had lovely features such as the staircase and the kitchen. The owners were so friendly and helpful and even gave us a tour of their house at the end of our stay. We loved the garden and were extremely fortunate to get wonderful sunny and warm weather in the first week of October. The inglenook fireplace in the lounge made it so homely. We all had a great time.
,The welcome to the property was very warm and it was interesting to hear about the history of the house. There were lots of leaflets about activities and walks in the local area. The house had everything we needed for the week and was big enough for two families holidaying together.
Ms Mcculloch, Hertfordshire
,The property is amazing very homely and the owners were great, I would certainly recommend this property to anyone. The living room is so grand with the log burner just finishes it off nicely. The whole house is furnished to a high standard.
Miss Talbot, Cumbria
,Staying in Unthank Hall was a magical step back into history. Absolutely loved being there. But even better than the property were the owners. If Sykes ever offers seminars to train potential property owners on how to make guests feel welcome, the owners should be the keynote speakers. Welcoming, generous, helpful and interesting conversationalists. By the end of a week they made us feel like we had good friends in Stanhope.
